This company provides training courses for high profile financial institutions and insurance companies. These licensing and continuing education courses are required for earning and maintaining field certifications, which are contingent on employment.
About the Product
Companies utilizing our B2B platforms were needing a way to monitor progress through our courses.
The management platform created a management ecosystem just for that, ensuring managers could monitor progress, offering each organization customizable levels of progress tracking dependent on size and company structure.
What I did
Leading an iterative process through discovery, design, and implementation, I crafted and maintained the end-to-end product experience of the For Business software.
Discovery
Gathered feedback from key stakeholders across our clientele, ensuring managers in both the financial and insurance sector were able to utilize in the manner they choose.
Most notably, it helped craft how custom permissions settings were developed across the platform. After discussions with users, it became apparent that they would favor hiding elements over a standard disabled function for features not available to lower level managers.
Design
By working through all product viability needs for both large institutions and small businesses, I established the:
- Site hierarchy and architecture
- Visual look and feel, including a fully documented design system
- Technical and visual documentation for all custom permission setting behaviors and visual states, aiding the development process
Note: We determined and prebuilt a variety of permissions settings with the software based on most common needs, but we also provided capabilities to completely personalize and customize permission settings within a manager’s ecosystem.
Development
Once site architecture, visual design, and technical requirements were established, we moved into development, where I worked with a team of back end developer to bring this software to life. I worked on the front end development in VueJS and SASS, while my teammates worked to connect API’s to each environment.
Result
In the end, we developed a platform that managers were able to quickly access and access the progress of others within their ecosystem, increasing accountability and communication between managers and direct reports, making sure reports stay on track to complete their course work.
