RESEARCH
As part of a larger research phase of a website redesign project, I worked to develop a sitemap for the client’s existing website structure, which was not previously created. This was necessary to increase everyone’s understanding of the website’s content and structure as the project continued through and moved beyond the research phase.

SITEMAP
I began by identifying the links on the homepage. Through this audit, I found approximately 119 unique links on the home screen, with a 150 total. Additionally, site wide, there were over 500 unique pages.

From there, I organized the website architecture into 20 different categories and created a hierarchy within each of those groups.

With this sitemap, I was able to identify and magnify several areas of inconsistency, including several missing links, while also providing insight into better solutions for document storage and retrieval.

SOLUTION
I created a comprehensive site map that was able to provide necessary insight and organization moving forward in the planning and organization for the new website. The site map is so extensive, the file was too large to be printed. This insight allowed for better planning towards architecture infrastructure and interaction patterns as the website moved into the design and development phases.
